Bachat Lamp Yojana (BLY) – a scheme by BEE to promote energy efficient lighting

We all know that CFLs are great electricity savers and as compared to Incandescent bulbs they consume lot less energy and give out the same amount of light. But as compared to incandescent, CFLs are costly. The cost deters a lot of people from buying energy efficient CFL. To tackle this problem, BEE has launched a scheme called Bachat Lamp Yojna (BLY) to distribute quality long life CFLs in exchange of an incandescent lamp at Rs 15 to residential consumers. With this article we will try to explain the BLY program and how that can be availed.
